Germany's Merkel: Potential US tariffs incompatible with WTO rules
Following the reports of the United States planning to announce the trade tariffs implementation on steel and aluminum imports from the eurozone, Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel has stated that any potential tariffs by the US would be incompatible with the World Trade Organization rules, as reported by LiveSquawk. Merkel further added that the EU's response to those tariffs would have to be intelligent and united.
The EUR/USD pair didn't show a noticeable reaction to these comments and was last seen trading near the 1.17 handle ahead of the important macroeconomic data releases from the US.
